What moves the rate
- International gold prices.
- The rupee-dollar exchange rate.
- Import duty and local taxes.
- Local demand around festivals and wedding seasons.
Indicative rate vs your offer
A rate you see online or on television is indicative: it usually refers to a specific purity and unit, such as 10 grams of 24K gold. Your offer is for your own item, at its own tested purity, and after any deductions. For that reason the two numbers will almost never match.
Ask the buyer which rate they are applying and how they arrived at the figure for your item.
Should you wait?
Nobody can reliably predict gold prices. If you are selling for a specific need, plan around that need rather than trying to time the market. This page is general information, not financial advice.
